The coast occupies a narrow strip of desert washed by the Pacific Ocean. It is crossed by about 50 fertile valleys where settled major cities.
The Sierra, or Andes, has a rugged, marked by the presence of the great Andes mountains traversing the country from north to south and reaches heights of over 6.000 meters. (19.685 feet). In the mountains there are numerous valleys and deep canyons, hundreds of lakes and massive glaciers of extraordinary beauty.
The eastern section of the country almost two thirds of it is occupied by the Amazon jungle with two major variants: the cloud forest, located in the foothills of the eastern flank of the mountain, and the vast Amazon basin, covered by a myriad ada rivers that wind through lush forests full of wildlife.
