


Off ers an a ractive and fun experience for the whole family in an allterrain adventure through the coast, the Andes and the Jungle of Peru. To name a few activities: we will embark on excursions, river ra ing, visits to archaeological sites and get to know the artisans and local communities.
DAY 1: LIMA | INC: -
Arrival in Lima, meet and greet by the Viajes Pacifico staff who will assist us with luggage and will provide a brief city orientation and helpful information. Transfer to hotel and overnight stay in Lima.
DAY 2: LIMA | INC: B/L
In the morning we will set off for the South while our guide gives a short introduction of Lima, we will see the main avenues, plazas, as well as other attractions the city has to offer.
We will arrive at our destination: the archaeological sanctuary of Pachacamac which is located 30km south of Lima. Adobe made and overlooking the ocean and the Lurin River Valley, this was the center of pilgrimage for many of the cultures that inhabited Peru in the past. When the Incas arrived, the complex was adapted as an administrative center, respecting the local constructions. See the Temple of the Sun, the Acllahuasi, the Taurichumbi Palace, and the Pilgrims Plaza, among others. We will also visit the In-site Museum to have a better understanding and see the remains found in the area.
We will have lunch at Los Ficus Hacienda, located in the Lurin Valley (at 34 kms from Lima), a great opportunity to taste the best of the local gastronomy and see a marvelous show: Peruvian dancing horses doing what they do best. Experienced guides will give us a brief explanation of its history, riding gear and enfrenadura. At the arranged time, we will return to Lima. Overnight stay in Lima.
DAY 3: LIMA/PARACAS | INC: B/D
In the morning we will leave with our private transport and guide to Paracas bay. Upon arrival, we will settle down in our hotel. We will leave from the local aerodrome to overfly the Nazca Lines and view the enormous drawings that can only be appreciated from the air and which represent various insects and animals, like the Monkey, the Hummingbird, the Condor or the Spider. Their origin is unknown; it is believed that it was a Great Astronomic Calendar. The rest of the morning free to enjoy the hotel facilities and its surroundings. Lunch will be on our own. In the afternoon, enjoy a unique trip through the Paracas sand dunes, on one of the driest deserts in the world on one of our 4x4 all-terrain vehicles, especially prepared for these trips and driven by expert drivers. Return to hotel. Overnight in Paracas.

DAY 4: PARACAS/LIMA| INC: B
Early in the morning we will have a boat trip to Ballestas Islands. On the way, we will be able to appreciate the “Chandelier”, a drawing made on a sand hill overlooking the Nazca Pampas. On the islands we will see Humboldt penguins and sea lions in addition to the migratory birds that live there. At the arranged time we will return to Lima. Overnight stay in Lima.
DAY 5: LIMA/CUSCO | INC: B
Transfer to the airport for our flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, assistance and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the morning is free to get used to the altitude. In the afternoon, we suggest walking around streets and plazas of Cusco. Overnight stay in Cusco.
DAY 6: CUSCO/SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/PL
We will drive to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and our first stop will be Chinchero, where we’ll take a walk around its beautiful town and archaeological complex. We will also have the opportunity to see a short exhibit of traditional textiles, a distinctive feature of this town dedicated to following ancestral dyeing techniques to create high quality works of art. Our trip continues in Moray, a place with a breathtaking view thanks to its colossal concentric terraces resembling a coliseum. What did they use it for? The terraces recreated 20 different types of microclimates, and they were studied to ensure the agricultural production of the empire. After a picnic-style lunch, we will continue our journey to Maras, the millenary colonial salt mines. The contrast of the white pools against the green valley is postcard-perfect. Our last stop: Ollantaytambo, a small town full of local color and inhabited since Inca times in which we will visit the main temple used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. Breathtaking views for amazing pictures. Overnight stay in Sacred Valley.
DAY 7: SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/L
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel and head for our private dock located in Pachar. This is the starting point for our river rafting experience in the Urubamba. Here passengers will receive their river rafting equipment and a proper safety briefing so as to be prepared how to handle the rapids level II and III. After a brief practice on the flat parts of the river, we will start our journey on easy waters, while we admire the spectacular views of the mountains and archaeological remains, continuing towards Ollantaytambo and its amazing Inca terraces. At the time we experience class II and III rapids, to finish with “El Resbaladero” (The Slide), a strong class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools. We will then have lunch in a traditional restaurant located on the riverside, owned by the local community family. This is a great chance to enjoy the Andean cuisine while supporting community projects.
After lunch, it is time to see some Peruvian dance horses and their arrieros at the restaurant yard. Our guide will brief us on horseback riding safety. It should be mentioned that over 400 years the Peruvian dance horse has been considered as the key figure in the Peruvian coast haciendas, place in which they learned to walk in such manner due to the sand in coastal Peru. Nowadays, the Peruvian dance horse is considered as one of the finest in the world. Our riding adventure begins by following a road on the left back of Urubamba river. We will see small villages, farms and Andean terraces along the way. Our riding trip will take about two hours. At the end of this adventure, our private vehicle will transport us back to the hotel. Overnight stay in the Sacred Valley.
DAY 8: SACRED VALLEY/MACHU PICCHU | INC: B/L/D
In the Ollantaytambo station we will board one of the most incredible train rides in the world. We will arrive at the Aguas Calientes station, where our staff will assist us to catch the vehicle that will take us up by a meandering road that offers us a spectacular view of River Urubamba that shapes the famous canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Pichu, will welcome us with incredible terraces, stairways, ceremonial rooms and urban areas. The energy emanates from everywhere. After a guided tour we will have time to explore the citadel and have lunch in one of the restaurants of the area. Dinner and overnight stay in Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu.
DAY 9: MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO | INC: B
Very early in the morning, our guide will take us to the Lost City of the Incas to make a special visit to the Inca complex. We will enjoy the incredible terraces, stairways, ceremonial rooms and urban areas. The energy emanates from everywhere. We will have time to explore the citadel on our own and have lunch in one of the restaurants of the area. At the scheduled time we will catch the train back and then be transferred to our hotel. Overnight in Cusco.
DAY 10: CUSCO/PUERTO MALDONADO | INC: B/L/D
Transfer to the airport for our departure to Puerto Maldonado. Arrival, welcome at Puerto Maldonado. We suggest you visit the House of the Butterflies that is very close from the airport. We will do the check-in in a very easy and comfortable way and then head to the dock in only 15 minutes. From now on we will be able to experience the charm of the jungle on a 45 minute trip along River Madre de Dios until reaching the Inkaterra Amazon Reserve Lodge. After a brief welcome, we will enjoy a pleasant lunch with the ingredients of the region, we well have a nap, share a pleasant time with some refreshing tea and get ready for the afternoon excursion.
After a brief orientation talk by Inkaterra, you will be able to choose among several excursions available at the Amazon Reserve. On the first day, we recommend you to enter the jungle through a guided walk along the network of trails in the natural area of the Inkaterra Amazon Reserve, where you will discover the marvelous Amazon Basin. This excursion offers an excellent introduction to the jungle ecosystem on passing in between impressive trees such as the Shihuahuaco and the strangely beautiful Strangler Ficus tree, offering excellent opportunities exotic bird and insect watching.
For the first night we recommend you do the River by Night excursion – a guided boat trip of the route done in the afternoon, sailing along the Madre de Dios River. We will witness the transformation of a day world into a night world: day birds and animals give way to other species specially adapted to the night. While we enjoy the surrounding nature, we recommend you to be alert to the appearance of chotacabras, owls, ronsocos and large caimans.
In the evening we will enjoy a dinner served in the main dining room, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. After dinner, you may choose between going to your cabin early or join a talk about the experience of living in the jungle while listening to the intriguing sounds of the jungle by night.
DAY 11: PUERTO MALDONADO| INC: B/L/D
This day we will be able to sleep late or wake up early, the choice is up to you. Breakfast starts very early for those who wish to avoid the heat and enjoy nature to the maximum. The delicious buffet breakfast will be available from 5.30a.m. to 9:30a.m.
During the morning we can make the excursion to Lake Sandoval in the National Tambopata Reserve. We will sail in a wooden canoe across the lake, home of many species that are in danger of extinction, such as the giant river otter, the red howling monkeys, the red belly macaws, anacondas and the slanted neck turtles. We will get back to the Inkaterra Amazon Reserve lodge just in time for lunch.
After lunch we recommend a visit to the Inkaterra Canopy and the Anaconda trail. When climbing to the first tower located 29 meters above the jungle ground, we will have the first encounter with the species that live in the tree tops. We will literally walk through the tropical rainforest for over a quarter of a mile, through a network of bridges that connect eight observation platforms. For an hour and a half of expedition, we will be hanging up to observe colorful toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys, sloths, among other species. We can extend the excursion to appreciate the sunset in one of the towers.
After climbing down the Canopy, we will trek the Anaconda Trail for 30 minutes along the 200 wooden bridges over the Aguajales swamps. In this exuberant ecosystem, we will be able to observe different species of amphibians, birds, mammals and rainforest vegetation. There is also the possibility of appreciating snakes on these swampy zones. The excursion will end with the return to the lodge.
Once at the lodge, we will enjoy the nature presentation in the Eco Center. Dinner starts at 7:30 p.m. Overnight stay at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica.
DAY 12: PUERTO MALDONADO/LIMA | INC: B
Early in the morning we will enjoy a full breakfast before departing. We will start our 45 minute boat trip back along the Madre de Dios River that will take us to Puerto Maldonado, where you can visit the House of the Butterflies on the route. Peru has the largest variety of butterflies in the world, with 3700 known species, many of which can be seen at the House of the Butterflies, a sample of the variety, beauty and adaptation capacity of these fascinating insects.
Departure for our flight back to Lima. Upon arrival, assistance at the airport for our international connection flight.
