


This tour off ers a true opportunity to experience the culture and traditions of Peru by interacting with its inhabitants. We will explore remote places of the Sacred Valley and Lake Titicaca, ge ing to meet and know more about the rural communities that will open the doors to their houses to share the true local colors and flavors.
DAY 1: LIMA | INC: -
Arrival in Lima, meet and greet by the Viajes Pacifico staff who will assist us with luggage and will provide a brief city orientation and helpful information. Transfer to hotel.
At night, we suggest an optional dinner at the classic restaurant La Rosa Nautica, a Victorian decorated city icon that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Overnight stay in Lima.
DAY 2: LIMA/CUSCO/VALLE SAGRADO | INC: B/L
Transfer to the airport to catch the flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will be transferred to the Sacred Valley which will help us adapt better to the altitude. Before getting to the hotel, we will stop briefly at the traditional market, with enough free time to go around, see the typical produces and buy handcraft. We will take a few minutes to relax and taste a delicious empanada (filled pastry) or a piece of bread freshly made in stone ovens. Once we are all checked-in in our hotels, we will head for the Wayra restaurant. La Terraza is the most informal room at Wayra, where we will get rid of all our pretentions to conciliate our proposal with the awesome environment that surrounds us: an overwhelming display of color and contrast brought by the mountains, the popular art, the mural paintings and the inspiring garden. This is the background to a peaceful lunch that combines the delights of the valley with the glamour of the dancing Peruvian horses and the typical marinera dancers (dances may vary). Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities. An optional spa session is highly recommended. Meditation and shaman sessions are also available. Overnight stay at Urubamba.
DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/L/D
Early in the morning we will drive to a local community where the friendly locals will welcome us with open arms and will be perfect hosts. They will share with us their way of life and share ancient traditions. We will spend the night at a local home or at a deluxe camp especially set for us at the local community.
DAY 4: SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/PL/D
After saying goodbye to the community, we will drive to Chinchero, a beautiful town and archaeological site where we will get to see a short exhibit of traditional textiles, a distinctive feature of this town dedicated to following ancestral dyeing techniques to create high quality works of art. Our trip continues in Moray, a place with a breathtaking view thanks to its colossal concentric terraces resembling a coliseum. What did they use it for? The terraces recreated 20 different types of microclimates, and they were studied to ensure the agricultural production of the empire. After a picnic-style lunch we will continue our journey to Maras, the millenary colonial salt mines. The contrast of the white pools against the green valley is so impressive that it resembles a postcard. Our last stop: Ollantaytambo, a small town full of local color and inhabited since Inca times in which we will visit the main temple used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. Breathtaking views for amazing pictures. Dinner and overnight stay in Sacred Valley.
DAY 5: SACRED VALLEY/MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO | INC: B/L
A train trip away to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We arrive at the Aguas Calientes station where our staff will assist us on boarding the bus to go up the winding road to Machu Picchu, amid a spectacular view of the Urubamba River and its canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. Energy is all around us. After a guided visit, we will have time to explore the fortress on our own and have lunch at one of the restaurants in the area. At the arranged time, we will take the train back to Cusco to be transferred to the hotel. Overnight stay in Cusco.
DAY 6: CUSCO| INC: B/L
We will avoid the crowds for a while and visit Sacsayhuaman, a huge and impressive fortress of colossal constructions and surrounded by beautiful views blending together perfectly. Our adventure continues at the Inca Shrine Qenqo, to see the sacrificial altar embedded inside a rock cave. Finally we will arrive to the Puca Pucara viewpoint and Tambomachay, monument of impressive architectonic knowledge considered as one of the pillars of Andean Cosmo vision. Then it is time for lunch at Pachapapa restaurant which offers as a varied selection of Andean cuisine dishes as well as exquisite pizzas, calzones and other delicacies freshly baked in the wood ovens.
We move forward and this time we continue our Cusco tour on foot. The Korikancha temple will welcome us in all his magnificence; this temple, whose Quechua name means “Gold Enclosure” still bedazzles us with the thought of its gold covered walls. Then it is time to visit the Santo Domingo Church, and its astonishing display of art from the Cusqueña School, as well as impressive architecture. We will walk from San Blas, the artisans’ neighborhood, to the Hatun Rumiyoc street, stopping at the Inca Roca Palace, nowadays home to the Archbishop’s Palace and also at the famous Twelve Angle Stone. We will continue our walk to the Main Square to visit the Cathedral and its valuable and beautiful colonial masterpieces. Overnight stay in Cusco.
DAY 7: CUSCO/PUNO | INC: B/L
Private guided departure to Puno early in the morning. On the way we’ll stop to visit the attractions this beautiful route has to offer. The first stop: Andahuaylillas, for a visit to its beautiful chapel, then its Racchi, Temple of the Wiracocha god where the walls and narrow streets stand out. Then it’s lunch time and the opportunity to see the view at La Raya, natural border between Cusco and Puno. Before our final destination we will visit the in site Pucara Museum and a chance to get one of the local classic bull shaped ceramics. We will arrive in Puno at the end of the afternoon and will head straight to our hotel. Overnight stay in Puno.
DAY 8: PUNO/LAKE TITICACA | INC: B/L/D
We will embark on a voyage through the mythical Titicaca Lake, cradle of the legendary Inca Empire. We will stop briefly at the floating islands of the Uros, an old pre-Inca community that took refuge on the waters of this lake, running away from Colonist Empire. We will see how native people make their rafts using totora reeds, junco (plant) of the lake; continuing our activities, we will arrive to the Island of Taquile, where its friendly and colorful inhabitants will be our hosts. We will be amazed by the well-preserved ancient traditions that are still adopted and the breath-taking panoramic landscape of the lake. Enjoy its folklore and eye-catching craftwork. It is also important because of the "sicure" manufacturing, typical musical instrument of the region. Dinner and overnight stay in a local home.
DAY 9: LAKE TITICACA/PUNO | INC: B/L/D
It is time to visit Amantani Island, where can see sacred places of the pre-Inca cultures Pukara and Lupaka, and Inca culture, where today mystical ceremonies that survive over the years are performed. Visit to the impressive pre-Inca sanctuaries of Pachamama (Llaquistiti) and Pachatata (Coanos). From a 4,130 mts-height (13,549 f) we will enjoy a wonderful landscape of the snow-covered mountains of Cordillera Real. Going up to Pachatata, we will visit to the Museum of the Island if time permits. Here we will learn about the traditional techniques of fishing and agriculture. “The Throne of the Inca” is located at the shores of the community of Incatiana. According to the legend, the Inca used to take a bath with the Coya (his wife) when the sun went down. As well as its ancestors, they live in mud houses (most of them have no electricity) and are devoted to the sheep breeding and agriculture. In the “andenes” (terracing irrigation system) they cultivated potatoes, “oca” (Peruvian tuber), barley and quinoa. At the arranged time, we will board our embarkation to return to our hotel in Puno. Dinner and overnight stay in Puno.
DAY 10: PUNO/LIMA | INC: B
Time to say goodbye, we will leave Puno after a brief visit on to the Sillustani Mausoleum on our way to the airport. This is a pre-Inca cemetery of the Hatun Colla chiefs in Sillustani, on the shore of Lake Umayo. A great trip to see the funerary towers or Chullpas reaching up to six meters high. Upon arrival, assistance at airport to connect with your international departure flight.
