


This is an exclusive experience for those seeking to enjoy Peru’s culture, history and biodiversity. First, we will travel to Machu Picchu in style on the Hiram Bingham Express Train, and then we will cross the Amazon River on a magnifi cent and fancy cruise.First class cuisine and ge ing to meet the artisans and locals are just some of the details that make this a unique journey in which the traveler appreciates the richness of the natural and archaeological sites in style.
DAY 1: LIMA | INC: -
Arrival in Lima, meet and greet by the Viajes Pacifico staff who will assist us with luggage and will provide a brief city orientation and helpful information. Transfer to hotel.
At night, we suggest an optional dinner at the classic restaurant La Rosa Nautica, a Victorian decorated city icon that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Overnight stay in Lima.
DAY 2: LIMA | INC: B/L
We will have a tour through Lima’s streets and plazas. Starting at the Love Park in Miraflores, with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, and then heading to the Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial center of the Lima culture. Later we will go to San Isidro, financial center of the city to appreciate the Huaca Huallamarca, ancient pre-Incan shrine. After this, we go on to the Main Square where the Government Palace and the Town Hall are located. We will visit the Cathedral and explore the San Francisco convent, built in the seventeenth century, to discover the mystery of its catacombs.
Gourmet lunch at the renowned Malabar restaurant. Located in one of the best areas of San Isidro, Malabar offers a bit of everything: its walls full of information and art, its classical English style bar with curious items sitting on it … Everything indeed makes Malabar an interesting tourist attraction; not only the food is good, but also just coming is an interesting experience. We will continue our visit with one of the country’s best museums, the Larco Museum. This is an 18th century mansion built on top a pre-Columbian pyramid circa the 7th century. Lots of treasures often exhibited at the world’s most prestigious museums are there for us to see. Don’t miss the warehouse and the exclusive collection of pre-Columbian erotic ceramics, as well as the well-preserved Chavin, Chimu, Nazca and Inca mummies. In the afternoon, assistance and transport available to tour the various art galleries and handicraft shops. The evening is free to enjoy the city and its incredible culinary. At night we suggest dinning at one of the fantastic private houses in the capital. Overnight stay in Lima.
DAY 3: LIMA/CUSCO | INC: B
Transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco. Meet and greet on arrival and transfer to hotel. Free morning to get used to the altitude. In the afternoon, we will discover the city on foot. First, the Korikancha temple will welcome us in all his magnificence; this temple, whose Quechua name means “Gold Enclosure” still bedazzles us with the thought of its gold covered walls. Then it is time to visit the Santo Domingo Church, and its astonishing display of art from the Cusqueña School, as well as impressive architecture. We will walk from San Blas, the artisans’ neighborhood, to the Hatun Rumiyoc street, stopping at the Inca Roca Palace, nowadays home to the Archbishop’s Palace and also at the famous Twelve Angle Stone. We will continue our walk to the Main Square to visit the Cathedral and its valuable and beautiful colonial masterpieces. Overnight stay in Cusco.
DAY 4: CUSCO/SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/L
We will get away from the crowds to visit Sacsayhuaman, a huge and impressive fortress of colossal constructions and surrounded by beautiful views blending together perfectly. Then, it is time to continue our journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where our fist stop will be the Inca site of Pisac, an archeological complex located on the hillside high above the town. This place has beautiful agricultural terracing cut into the mountainside. Ascending, well-preserved temples, including a Solar Clock or Intiwatana, will offer us an awe-inspiring scenario. Continuing our tour in Pisac, we will stop briefly at the traditional market. with enough free time to go around and buy handcrafts and if you feel like tasting something traditional, stop by the wood ovens for a delicious empanada or a piece of bread. It´s time for lunch, we´ll stop at the fantastic Wayra Restaurant. La Terraza is the most informal room at Wayra, where we will get rid of all our pretentions to conciliate our proposal with the awesome environment that surrounds us: an overwhelming display of color and contrast brought by the mountains, the popular art, the mural paintings and the inspiring garden. This is the background to a peaceful lunch that combines the delights of the valley with the glamour of the dancing Peruvian horses and the typical marinera dancers (dances may vary). Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities. An optional spa session is highly recommended. Meditation and shaman sessions are also available. Overnight stay at Urubamba.
DAY 5: SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/PL
Let’s discover the most important sites in the Sacred Valley. First stop: Chinchero, where we will take a walk around its beautiful town and archaeological complex. We will also have the opportunity to see a short exhibit of traditional textiles, a distinctive feature of this town dedicated to following ancestral dyeing techniques to create high quality works of art. Our trip continues in Moray, a place with a breathtaking view thanks to its colossal concentric terraces resembling a coliseum. What did they use it for? The terraces recreated 20 different types of microclimates, and they were studied to ensure the agricultural production of the empire. After a picnic-style lunch we will continue our journey to Maras, the millenary colonial salt mines. The contrast of the white pools against the green valley is postcard-perfect. Our last stop: Ollantaytambo, a small town full of local color and inhabited since Inca times in which we will visit the main temple that was used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. Breathtaking views for amazing pictures. Overnight stay in the Sacred Valley.
DAY 6: SACRED VALLEY/MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO | INC: B/BR/D
Departure to the Ollanta Station, where we will embark into one of the most spectacular rides aboard the exclusive Hiram Bingham deluxe train. The experience on board is purely first class. The train’s incredible classic style goes perfectly with the dining room arrangement, making it easy to taste the delightful dishes carefully prepared for us by experienced chefs. The landscapes are breathtaking and while we follow the Urubamba River course getting closer and closer to the canyon, we’ll arrive at Aguas Calientes. From there, we will take a small bus up the winding road to Machu Picchu. The Lost City of the Incas will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and the solar clock or Intihuatana, all this amid a special atmosphere and on a guided tour. At the arranged time we will take the train back to Cusco. Entertainment and fine gourmet dinner on board. On arrival we will be transferred to the hotel. Overnight stay in Cusco.
DAY 7 to DAY 10: IQUITOS AND AMAZON RIVER | INC: B/L/D
At the fixed time, transfer to the airport to board our flight to Lima, where we will connect to Iquitos, our gate to the Amazon River. Upon arrival, we will be assisted and transferred to the dock where we will board our luxury cruise to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
